KWSSIP Signs Agreement with NESPAK for Consulting Services

Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project signs an agreement with NESPAK for the technical consulting services for design, preparation of tender documents and supervision of sub-projects of KWSSIP that includes rehabilitation of water and sewerage network, and safe water supplies in selected Kachi Abadis of Karachi.

These services will help to reduce the non-revenue water and promote revenue management reforms, arrest major leaks, install district and customer meters, and develop chlorination facilities. The agreement shall restore priority sewerage network by reducing leakage and subsequent flooding. Execution of the project interventions shall also improve the water supply and sanitation in selected Kachi Abadis of Karachi. The scope also includes mapping options of installation or upgradation of water automated teller machines, metered house connections and provision of bulk water supply to the major urban consumers. Close consultation with the local communities shall also be integral part of the project.

The intervention in selected infrastructure will enhance institutional capacity of KW&SB, and lay the foundation for scaling-up capital investments in subsequent series of projects of KWSSIP in future.

Project Director KWSSIP Syed Salahuddin Ahmed and NESPAK’s Vice President for Environment and Public Health Division Muhammad Zubair signed the agreement document; Aamir Munir, Project Manager -NESPAK, Abdul Rehman Shaikh Project Manager-KWSSIP and other KWSSIP’s staff members were also present at this occasion.
