KWSSIP Adds 20 New Jetting Vehicles to Enhance KWSC’s Sewerage Operations

The Chairman of the Water Corporation and Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, stated that the current urban administration is executing three major infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving municipal services. As part of the ongoing modernization of the sewerage system, a significant advancement has been made under the Karachi Water & Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP), with an investment of PKR 630 million.

KWSSIP Project Director, Usman Muazzam, has delivered an additional fleet of 20 suction and jetting vehicles to the Corporation. Commonly referred to as “blue trucks,” these vehicles play a critical role in mechanical sewer cleaning, especially during the monsoon season. Previously, 122 units were operational; with the addition of these new vehicles, the total fleet has increased to 142, substantially enhancing the system’s mechanical cleaning capacity and operational efficiency. This expansion is expected to improve response time and service delivery to citizens.

Furthermore, with the support of KWSSIP, three modern service centers are being established at Karsaz, Sakhi Hassan, and SITE Industrial Area/Haroonabad. Construction of the Haroonabad Customer Service Center has already been completed.

These remarks were shared during an event held at the Water & Sewerage Corporation headquarters on Thursday to mark the inauguration of the Corporation’s first Police Assistance Desk, the deployment of new suction and jetting vehicles, and the launch of an electric-vehicle charging station. Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Parliamentary Leader in the City Council Karamullah Waqasi, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Muhammad, CEO Water Corporation Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, COO Engr. Asadullah Khan, and other officials were also present.
